The Palisade has a standard Blue Link, which uses a global positioning satellite (GPS) receiver and a cellular system to remotely unlock your doors if you lock your keys in, help track down your vehicle if it’s stolen or send emergency personnel to the scene if any airbags deploy. The EV9 doesn’t offer a GPS response system, only a navigation computer with no live response for emergencies, so if you’re involved in an accident and you’re incapacitated help may not come as quickly.

Both the Palisade and the EV9 have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front and rear side-impact airbags, driver knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning, driver alert monitors, available all wheel drive and around view monitors.

The Hyundai Palisade achieved a “Top Safety Pick” rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) for the 2024 model year. This recognition was based on its impressive performance in the small overlap frontal crash test, updated side impact crash test, headlight evaluations, and pedestrian crash prevention testing. The EV9 has not yet been evaluated by the IIHS for 2024.

The Palisade’s corrosion warranty is 2 years and unlimited miles longer than the EV9’s (7/unlimited vs. 5/100,000).

Hyundai pays for scheduled maintenance on the Palisade for 3 years and 36,000 miles. Hyundai will pay for oil changes, tire rotations, air filter replacements, cabin filter replacement, brake fluid replacement, inspections, and any other required maintenance. Kia doesn’t pay scheduled maintenance for the EV9.

The Palisade’s 3.8 DOHC V6 produces 90 more horsepower (291 vs. 201) and 4 lbs.-ft. more torque (262 vs. 258) than the EV9 Light Long Range’s standard electric motor. The Palisade’s 3.8 DOHC V6 produces 76 more horsepower (291 vs. 215) and 4 lbs.-ft. more torque (262 vs. 258) than the EV9 Light’s standard electric motor.

The Palisade has a standard space-saver spare tire so you can replace a flat tire and drive to have the flat repaired or replaced. A spare tire isn’t available on the EV9; it requires you to depend on roadside assistance and your vehicle will have to be towed.

For better maneuverability, the Palisade’s turning circle is 1.9 feet tighter than the EV9’s (38.7 feet vs. 40.6 feet).

For greater off-road capability the Palisade has a greater minimum ground clearance than the EV9 (7.9 vs. 7.8 inches), allowing the Palisade to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged.

The Hyundai Palisade may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 900 to 1300 pounds less than the Kia EV9.

The Palisade has standard seating for 8 passengers; the EV9 can only carry up to 7.

The Palisade has 2.7 inches more front legroom, .3 inches more rear headroom, .8 inches more rear shoulder room, .6 inches more third row legroom, 1.8 inches more third row hip room and .2 inches more third row shoulder room than the EV9.

The Palisade’s cargo area provides more volume than the EV9.

The Palisade’s standard towing capacity is much higher than the EV9’s (5000 vs. 2000 pounds).

The Palisade SEL/XRT/Limited/Calligraphy has standard heated front seats and second and third row heated seats also available, which keep the driver and passengers extremely comfortable in the winter. Kia doesn’t offer heated seats in the third row of the EV9.
